I always enjoy the opportunity to photograph a band—especially one as legendary as Brooklyn hardcore’s No Call No Show. Outside of photography, music has always been a huge part of my life. I played guitar in a band for several years, and that time gave me some incredible memories and lifelong friendships.
I’ve known No Call No Show’s singer and guitarist for years, dating back to when we taught together in Manhattan. I even had the privilege of photographing his wedding a few years ago, which was a truly special experience. I’ve also been documenting his bands since 2015, so it’s been rewarding to watch the journey through my camera.
We created these portraits near the band’s studio in Gowanus, Brooklyn. I think they capture the intensity, personality, and energy that define No Call No Show. If you’re a fan of hardcore, they’re absolutely worth checking out on Spotify.
